What it does
Gravity simply stops applying: the player hovers, climbs and flies in any direction without elytra, creative mode or a /fly permission. Blunt modes copy creative flight; subtler ones sink slowly or dip now and then to pass for falling.
On survival it means reaching any height and anyone's base; on anarchy, travelling without elytra or fireworks; in BedWars and SkyWars, crossing to an enemy island without a bridge. In PvP a flyer just leaves the fight upward, out of reach.
How to spot it
- Hovers or walks on air with no elytra on their back and no potion particles
- Flies at one fixed height as if on an invisible floor — check for barrier blocks first
- Dips a fraction of a block every few seconds and climbs back — that's how the cheat dodges the vanilla kick for flying
- Rises with no ladder, vines, bubble column or Levitation
- Falls as slowly as with Slow Falling, but has no such effect
How it gets caught
In the air an honest player follows one formula: every tick gravity takes the same amount off vertical speed and air drag damps it, so a jump's path is predictable to a thousandth of a block. The anticheat notices when a player hovers, climbs for no reason or falls too slowly.
Legitimate lifts abound: Levitation from shulkers, Slow Falling, wind charges, riptide, slime, bubble columns, plugin launch pads and double jumps, /fly itself; a ghost block after lag makes a “floor” that isn't there. Server-applied velocity must be accounted for, and bans must rest on repetition — DGuard waits for evidence from three separate episodes.
