Minecraft server status checker

Enter an address and see what players see in the server list: whether the server is up, how many are playing, the version, the MOTD and the icon. The server is queried with the game's own protocol, SRV records included.

Server status

A port is fine too: play.example.com:25570. The address goes to our server only for the check and isn't stored.

Enter an address to see what players see in the server list.

What the check shows

The check does what the game does when it refreshes the server list: it connects, sends a status request (Server List Ping) and shows the answer — MOTD, icon, version and player count. Without a port it first looks up the SRV record _minecraft._tcp.<address>, as the client does.

If the server "isn't answering" but you know it's running, go down the list: the server-port from server.properties is open in the firewall and forwarded on the router, the address is public rather than 192.168.x.x, and server.properties has enable-status=true — otherwise the server lets players in but looks offline in the list.

The version is whatever string the server software or proxy reports: Paper, Velocity or a plugin may put their own. If the player list says "hidden", the server has hide-online-players on.

Being online is the first job; fair play on it is the second. DGuard, the best anticheat for a modern Minecraft server, catches all 47 cheat types in our comparison and is free up to 30 players online.

FAQ

How do I check if a Minecraft server is online?

Enter its address above. If the server answers, you'll see the version, players, MOTD and icon — the same as the game's server list.

The server is running, but the check says it isn't answering. Why?

Usually the port is closed: open server-port in the firewall and forward it on the router. Other causes are a wrong public IP and enable-status=false in server.properties.

Can I check a server on a non-standard port?

Yes: add the port after a colon, such as play.example.com:25570. If the domain has an SRV record, you can leave the port out — the check finds it.

Does it check Bedrock Edition?

No, Java Edition only: Bedrock uses its own protocol and port 19132 by default.

Do you store the addresses I check?

No. The address is used for one check. To keep the tool from being misused, the site limits requests per visitor and never connects to internal addresses.
